Bogle Architects was invited by the client, SCI SIEB, to design options for a 10,100 m² mixed use office scheme, closerto the historic centre of Casablanca, in Morocco.
The proposal is in the form of an urban infill which completes a city block located on the main shopping boulevard in Casablanca. Two below ground levels are allocated for car parking, two above ground levels are designated for retail and the remaining five floors are configured for either a single user or multi-tenanted office accommodation.
The building form is simple and efficient, responding to local regulations which permit 50% of the facade area located four metres above ground level to be extended by two metres beyond the building line. Cantilevered sections of the facade maximise floor-plates and diamond-shaped glazing, echoing the diagonal character of the local urban grid, gives the scheme a distinctive character.
The two top floors are set back in response to local height regulations and massing of neighbouring developments, whilst creating valuable external amenity spaces with expansive views out over the boulevard.
