The rebuilding of two of the most iconic buildings in Bratislava, this project breathes new life into the architectural legacy of J.M. Bahna and Ch. Ludwig.
With a strong identity that respects the original designs while integrating with the surrounding public spaces, the endeavour aims at conservation rather than mere preservation, while increasing value for the developer.
The main idea behind this concept was to encourage people to use the buildings again, thereby making them an integral part of city life. We have opened a new pedestrian passage between SNP Square and Nedbalova Street. This vibrant space connects Dom Odborov and the Brouk+ Babka building, creating much-needed visibility for both structures. The gallery is transforming the floor area into a space that is vital for different activities to coexist and support each other.
The renovation project aims to preserve the existing elements, such as the building's structure, design principles, and materiality, while upgrading them to meet modern standards and enhance sustainability. The newly added parts will be easily distinguishable from the original structure, yet they will complement it. Once the project is completed, Dunaj will offer a diverse range of activities, including cultural events, gastronomy, retail, offices, and even some apartments with a stunning view of the old town.
