After winning an international competition in the summer of 2012, Bogle Architects was appointed to design the façades, co-ordinate internal layouts and provide landscape design for this 195 unit residential development in south-west Moscow.

The site is located within the leafy Western Administrative District of Moscow which includes some of the most exclusive resort villages in the capital. Today it is recognised as one of the most desirable residential areas in Moscow. Bounded by low and high rise residential buildings, the site sits within the Seytun River Valley nature reserve featuring woodland, landscaped parks and a large decorative lake.

Our design adds value by introducing ecological benefits such as open space, reduced running and maintenance costs and offers indirect benefits such as intelligent material choice, extended life span and the careful orientation of buildings, together with intelligent façade solutions, efficient insulation, high performance glazing, the use of locally sourced and recycled materials and bio-integration provided by increasing on-site biomass to promote biodiversity and increase the site’s ecological value. Our design concept integrates the buildings within the parkland setting, including green roofs and terraces.

Massing of the buildings is simply treated, providing spacious internal accommodation. Reinforced concrete labs are expressed on each side the envelope, giving a strong horizontal emphasis, while continuous terraces with solid parapets along the southern façades offer shade. Generous glazing brings direct sunlight into the north-facing lounges with insulated solid elements reducing heat loss while enhancing privacy. Northern façades are mainly glazed, maximising views out, with generous terraces providing outdoor amenity space.
